And today...
and here, the modern day curiosity...
the laundromat.
I can't believe how much time I have to spend in these places...
you bring a book or you do other activites in the neighborhood until the clothes are clean.
compare to the idea of blanchisserie where you chat with the old lady or old man in the shop about life in general or just absolutely nothing... the laundromat seems so cold... we don't even talk to the other people waiting! each person is buried in the books or whatever there is....

Blanchisserie
Same little alley way near my apartment...
This is now an artist's atelier, but the signs from the old days still remain.
The "Blanchisserie".... where people used to launder and bleach things...
The store owners are gone, the metier is gone, but this sign remains in our memory.
Perhaps one day we'll see an old sign of "Internet Café", and think of the days when people do not have wireless access...

Curiosities...
My friend Brian passed by Paris for just one night back in January during his trip to Eastern Europe... We passed by this little atelier in an artsy street near my apartment... quite interesting, this window display...
